Method
How a filing becomes a video, and why the numbers cannot drift.
The pipeline
The pipeline is automated from the filing to the upload. That is not a secret and it is not a shortcut. It is the only way to publish sourced coverage every day, and it is the reason a figure on screen is the figure in the filing.
- 01
EDGAR XBRL
Every listed company files its financial statements as tagged XBRL. We read the company-facts API on data.sec.gov, not a press release, not a data vendor, not a screenshot.
- 02
Analysis
Filing-activity analysis scores what changed: new forms, restated values, segment shifts, and which companies have filed recently with no coverage from large channels. That list decides the day's video.
- 03
Script
Software drafts a short script using only the tagged values and the filing's own language. A second pass compares every number in the script to the XBRL value, tag by tag. A mismatch stops the video.
- 04
Render
The video is rendered with the figures on screen in the same form they take in the filing: value, period, form type. The poster and the transcript are generated from the same script.
- 05
Publish
The video, the transcript and the citations are written to this site's data layer and pushed to Shorts, Reels and TikTok with the sec.gov links in the description.
Why numbers cannot drift
A company’s XBRL filing carries each figure with a concept tag, a unit and a period. We store all three with the value. When a script says $416.2B, the pipeline has already matched it to us-gaap:RevenueFromContractWithCustomerExcludingAssessedTax, USD, period ending 2025-09-27, in the company’s own 10-K. Anything the script cannot match to a tagged value is removed before the video renders.
On every video page you will find the Sources box: the form type, the date and the sec.gov link for each document cited. On every company page you will find the metrics table with the same three fields per value, and a link to the raw company-facts JSON so you can check us.
What we never do
- Predict prices. The filing does not know where a stock is going. Neither do we, and we do not pretend to.
- Give advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. For education only.
- Accept payment for coverage. Sponsors get a labelled module. They never choose a company, a filing, or a word.
- Use a number we cannot link. If it is not in a filing, it is not in a video.
- Hold positions in companies we cover. Neither the channel nor the people who run it trade the names on the docket.
AI disclosure
AI-assisted content. Scripts are drafted by software and every figure is machine-verified against the primary SEC filing before publication.
Scripts, voice and rendering are produced by software. Human review sets the rules the software follows, checks the pipeline’s output regularly, and handles every correction. We think you should know which is which, so we say so here and in the footer of every page.
Corrections
If a video or a page misstates a filing, the filing wins. Send the video slug and the passage. We correct the page, note the correction on it, and re-render the video if the error is on screen.
The Daily Brief
One filing that matters, every morning. Every number linked to the document.
